Philips Norelco 1180X SensoTouch Electric Razor with GyroFlex 2D Review

This razor gives me the fabulous Norelco electric shave I have always gotten from all my previous Norelcos. The geometry of the 1180X cradles really well in my hands. It's the best shave out of any electric for my face configuration and for my whiskers which are course and hard. I haven't drawn any blood yet.
I rated it with 4 stars. I didn't give it all 5 stars not because of the shave but because of Norelco's engineering and mind set. Instead of plugging the charge cord directly into the body of the razor like all my previous Norelcos, you have to set the shaver back into the stand and then plug into the jack located on the stand. When I'm on the road, which I am alot, I can't just take my razor zipped into the travel bag, I have to take that awkward stand along as well just so that I can plug in to charge. Not so bright Norelco.
Also, Norelco razors are just great as long as the batteries are lasting. Any of you Norelco users will know, once the batts wear out, you're in for an endeavor. I've gone through many small appliance places that won't touch replacing the soldered batts. Batteries-Plus in my area has stopped doing them since they can't get the razors to turn on after soldering in new batts. All I have gotten by calling Norelco, is to just keep searching (They won't do them). So, really,
your Norelco shaver, whether it's a simple HQ type or a fully loaded Arcitec, is really made to be a disposable razor; use it and throw it. Norelco sets it up so you have to go by a new one when the batts go dead. Otherwise, they would make user replaceable batteries.
If you do prefer Norelco shavers though, shop Amazon.com. They seem to have the largest assortment and the lower prices.
