I purchased this thermometer for use in my medical office. We take the temperature of almost every patient. Ear thermometers are tricky to use and take a lot of practice. Oral thermometers are usually accurate but slow, and require a sheath (cover) for each patient. The Exergen TAT 2000 for Professional use can be cleaned with an alcohol wipe and is the best we have used. NOTE: They also sell a home version of this thermometer. I would get the professional one.

Pros: Well designed, works quickly, easy to handle. Sensitive. Antibacterial head.
Cons: Costly, but worth it. Learning to use this type of thermometer is not difficult, but it takes practice. Fortunately, the manufacturer supports it well with educational materials and web site.
