The "Advantage Rail" was needed for me. I had a stroke, paralyzing me on rt. side. I reviewed (on internet) all kinds of "grab bars" and poles, for use when I got out of rehab.
My Physical & Occupational Therapists were suggesting all kinds of different things, that they were familiar with, for me to get to use with transfers, support and balance once I got home.
I finally decided this Advantage Rail would probably help me best, but when I tried to order it, was told by several different places it "was no longer available" or "had been discontinued". When I finally found it on Amazon through "Stacks and Stacks", I ordered it. It was delivered in EXCELLENT condition even sooner than delivery date, with all parts included.
I wanted to use in my very small bathroom. A friend installed it for me. As it would be on a tile floor, with a cement underflooring, he went to Lowe's and got some longer, stronger nails to secure the pole, rather than the ones that came with it.
The main pole sits on the floor securely, not in a big hole in the floor. I was surprised at the strength and sturdiness. It is very well-made. I am 250 lbs and this pole doesn't waiver at all when I use it.
By easily lifting the bar that sticks out (which also has a comfortable pad covering), I can turn it to different angles to assist me, where needed, but the stability of the bar remains very strong and I feel safe using it. It does not go all the way to the ceiling, so no destruction there. It does not go in the wall, eliminating wall destruction. There is a white plate that fits over the bottom. It looks nice and is so solid.
I am amazed that none of my therapists, or installer, had never seen this pole before.
My bathroom door is so small my wheelchair does not fit in. I use the Advantage Rail to balance transferring from wheelchair to toilet, from toilet to bathtub transfer bench, from toilet to sink, to pivot from the sink, then sit in wheelchair.
It has been SO helpful that I am considering getting one to assist with transfers from wheelchair to lift chair (in the family room), and back to wheelchair. I have been in several rehab facilities, and this is by far the most helpful (and strongest) thing I have found to help me feel safe, to support me, and to help me balance.
I HIGHLY recommend this Advantage Rail for anyone needing assistance.
