Poly-MVA (8 oz.) Review

After having my dog's spleen removed due to rapid blood loss, the report came back for hemangiosarcoma, a cancer of the veins that supply many organs, including the spleen. I immediately jumped in with research to find out how I could save my nine y/o best friend. Immediately took him off his dog food, and started him on one of the cancer diets I gleaned online from a veterinarian who had done a lot of research in this field... He has a book in fact, one of many.

I was shocked to find out the things that go into the "grocery store" dog foods. Most have tested positive for an anesthetic that is used to euthanize dogs... meaning they use euthanized dogs (with whatever disease they may have had) in their food in addition to chemicals that are known to be cancer causing, many many of them. Most ingredients are not fit for human consumption, so why in the heck would you feed this to your best friend? Additionally, I found out that tap water contains many toxins, and, sugar should NEVER be given to your dog, as cancers thrive on sugar.

I began him on a diet of all organic foods from the grocery store: organic chicken, spinach, kale, lentils, broccoli, and in smaller amounts, organic apples, carrots, and brown rice-- which are higher in carbs. All of this goes into a crock pot cooked slowly over eight hours.. can be frozen into servings and ends up costing less than a high end dog food.

My Willie thrived on this diet for over two months and began showing a life I thought I'd never see again! His energy, appetite, and playfulness increased far beyond his age and cancer diagnosis.. He was so happy and looked so beautiful!

I had also done some research on Poly-mva, though most of what I could find was on their website, written by people who have tried Poly-mva on their dogs with various forms of cancer. In retrospect, I saw what I wanted to see in that most of the letters written by others were extremely positive for this product. One, in fact, from a veterinarian regarding positive results concerning his dog. How could I not try this for Willie? I would get a loan if I needed to.

I began the Poly-mva at about six weeks post splenectomy when Willie was in the midst of roaring back to health. As the third month came, I began to see a slower pace, though his appetite remained strong. I palpated his right side close to his lower ribs and felt a mass, probably his liver. About three weeks later his gums became so pale and his breathing was difficult due to the mass. I wanted Willie to go out feeling alive and without any pain, so I chose to put him to sleep, before this ugly disease took another inch of it's determined course.

(Poly-mva is also for humans, same exact product. The letters there on their website are just as rosy.)

Earlier on, I had called the number on their website, and was connected to a lady who took information about Willie to put him in their computer. She was very nice, taking my phone number and sending an information pack regarding Poly-mva. I recall reading the information after Willie died and never seeing where studies were actually done on the product. It's been around since 1994 in fact. And yes, there were some vets who may recommend this product, however, less than a handful, as I recall. Nothing was mentioned about their procedure for calibrating this product as well. I did receive several phone calls from that nice lady when it was time to reorder, though Willie never made it to the next bottle...

Hemangiosarcoma is a tough one. I would advise, instead of it coming to that, that you'd be much better off learning how to properly feed your dog the best you can afford and informing yourself regarding the perils of what is offered in your grocery store pet aisle. Ask the manager to carry some high end dog foods. There are much better products to be found at your local pet stores and on Amazon. If you have the time, consider organic foods with a high end dry dog food. Always always study the fine print on the back and nothing should be made in China.. Nothing! Higher end dog food should be made in places that are fit for human consumption. The information is out there to be learned. Willie was my best friend.
