It was difficult to find an attractive "Hip Chair."
My wife had a minor stroke and it was difficult for her to stand up from the low couches and chairs commonly found. We tried lifts, cushons, etc. and was not interested in a full lift recliner. This is a short term situation and needed while she gains leg strength.
The hip chair was a perfect solution so she didn't have to stay in bed till I got home from work.
Most of the chairs are metal tubing and stands out in a typical living room. The Drive Medical Wood Hip High Chair was a perfect soution to our problem.
The chair is solid and took about 30 minutes to unpack and build. A phillps head screwdriver is all that's needed. Instructions (about 5 steps) are clear and easy to understand.
I may put a rubber pad on the top of the step for added traction.
The chair is easy to pick up and move around. Padding is washable and the seat pretty comfortable, though it's not designed to spend hours in.
I'm very happy with my purchase and with Amazon Prime, I had it overnited for $4. Wow, that's amazing.
