I did a fair bit of research before choosing this product; it provides good light output (in terms of lumens). Installed the whole five-foot strip on the bottom of the bookshelf above my daughter's study desk; even with all of the other lights in the room off, this provides very good illumination for her studying. The shelf had a "lip" around the bottom, so the light strip and power supply are totally hidden from view.
When you factor in the cost of the required power supply, this is not a cheap lighting solution; you just have to decide whether you want to go with the $20 task light from Ikea (aesthetically less pleasing) and required light bulbs (maintenance cost). I like how clean the installation looks, and the (expected) long life of the LEDs.
